Reach Up For A Higher Serving Percentage
If you are having a rough day on the court with getting your first serve in. If it’s not going deep or it’s going into the net? One cause maybe you are not making contact with the ball far enough in front of your body.
For extra reach, use your legs and the uncoiling action of your body to generate body speed up and through the serve. During your motion extend your body line up and through the point of serves contact. If you can toss the ball for a right-handed player out and to the right then the pace with concentration will make your serve on the court on to wreaking with.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TACTICS WHEN SERVING
A good serve is a combination of speed, placement and spin.
70% of your first serves must go into play.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How far from the net should the net team be from the net?
Many doubles teams stand too far away from the net in order to cover the LOB. I like teams to stand close enough that they can volley above the net and poach if needed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Playing Percentage Tennis
Percentage tennis = hit shots that have a good chance of being successful.
On the pro tour the avg. winner of a match wins only 53% of the points and the loser 47%.
How do you raise your game a few percentage points? First take a little speed off your first serve, add a little spin and get it deep more often. (Players usually win 25% more points off their first serve than second)
Always get the return of serve back and low and cross court is high percentage.
Try to direct your first three shots to big targets you can hit. (Over 75% of points played end before each player or team has hit three balls)
Rather than try to hit a shot you are not sure you can make give your opponent one more chance to make a mistake. (Around 80% of points played end in an error.)
ON MIKE”S Brain
Team Tennis % tennis for 2011
80-90% of shots go crosscourt (net lower, largest margin of error, length of court, avoid giving opponent winning angles)
80-90% approach shots aim straight ahead-minimize angles for passing shots
Volley – expect 2 or 3, 1st play safe, most likely to go in, 2nd or 3rd try for winner (closer to the net)
Serving 1st serve in and placement over power
When in trouble or on defensive “LOB”
Do not change direction of ball when
1 ball hit with allot of pace
2 ball hit to weaker side
3 ball hit with allot of slice or skips off the surface
4 when going down the line as the net is higher
Get to the point on Doubles
It is a game of control not power
In good doubles ball passes over the net 2 ways – very close to the net or a high lob
Serving effective serve wide and 2nd serve directed at the returner
Good teams are careful in a plan before a point and react once in play
In doubles angles are the name of the game
When to change a losing doubles plan ( when you are down more than 2 games)
1 change formation
2 hit more between opponents
3 take pace off your shots and more slice
4 change serving pattern (pace,placement,spin)
5 lob more
Stratergy- simple is better
Tennis involves getting your opponent to hit to your strengths and not to your weaknesses
Errors, not winners determine who wins the match
Go for a winner on your 3rd stroke
Move your opponent and creep in to the net
Slow down a losing game and speed up a winning game

Reach Up For A Higher Serving Percentage
If you are having a rough day on the court with getting your first serve in. If it’s not going deep or it’s going into the net? One cause maybe you are not making contact with the ball far enough in front of your body.
For extra reach, use your legs and the uncoiling action of your body to generate body speed up and through the serve. During your motion extend your body line up and through the point of serves contact. If you can toss the ball for a right-handed player out and to the right then the pace with concentration will make your serve on the court on to wreaking with.

A good serve is a combination of speed, placement and spin.
70% of your first serves must go into play.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How far from the net should the net team be from the net?
Many doubles teams stand too far away from the net in order to cover the LOB. I like teams to stand close enough that they can volley above the net and poach if needed.

Keep on your toes while the ball is in play.
-
Relax physically between points, loosen the grip on your racket between points, allow your arms to hang loosely by your sides.

TACTICS WHEN SERVING
A good serve is a combination of speed, placement and spin.
70% of your first serves must go into play.

How far from the net should the net team be from the net?
Many doubles teams stand too far away from the net in order to cover the LOB. I like teams to stand close enough that they can volley above the net and poach if needed.
